Would you like to start translating "The Messenger" into your language - to share this experience with other people from your country?

The book is translated into Russian, Spanish (by a publisher), Portuguese (by a publisher), German.

It would be nice to have it available also in French, Italian, Indonesian, Malaysian, Chineese, Japaneese, Uzbek, Latvian - and many other languages.

Also, I think we will set up forums about working with love in different languages -- just as we did with Russian forum and English one, and are about to do with German forum.

So if you would like to translate a chapter of two of this book -- welcome to the topic where we talk about it.

Roman and I began talking about creating a page on love in Portuguese (see it in comments). Some time soon, maybe summer 2006 - "The Messenger" is going to be published in Brasil, so it would be nice to have a page and a forum in Portuguese by that time.

Any more readers here from Portugal and Brasil?

Thats a great Idea Kostya, I just got confirmation from Spain that "The Messenger" will be on the shelves first week in may and then a few weeks later in Brazil. If you need the jpg from the book cover in Spain let me know I have them.

Chuchi, formally, you can translate. You need author's permission only to use the tranlation (to publish it, and so on).

Informally I'll tell you this:

1) I'm glad you are doing this and I'll tell this to others in our newsletter
2) it would be nice to place your translation online - on your or on our site.
3) translating this book -- was one of the best things I've done in my life
4) Try to translate the thought that the author wanted to tell to the readers, not the exact words.

Dear Chuchi, I've just heard from Roberta Joehle that another person, 25 y.o. guy also would like to make "The Messenger" available to Israelis in Hebrew. Maybe you two can do something cool together!

into Portuguese by Pedpo Jordao. (The book in translation by the publisher hasn't come out yet -- after several years.)
into French by Louis Yagera
to Russian by Kostya Kovalenko
to Swedish by Ulla Flodin
to Spanish -- by the publisher

Hebrew translation hasn't been done. Now new person, Tal Ilani, is going to translate "The Messenger" into Hebrew. Welcome to the team, Tal! Thanks for getting to it!

It's amazing. Pedro is doing a great job translating these books (he translates much better than me, since I'm not a professional), of course the wording used in Brazil and in Portugal is a little different too, but I can understand really well.
