Any ideas when these will go on sale? I see a number of other venues already available, but no Phoenix. I'm freaking out. |

It was fantabulous! Sorry no pics. I didn't bring a camera.
The band was amazing and tight with the only downside being some serious technical difficulties. Twice they had to interrupt songs and end them early because nuno's amp stopped working. I don't actually have the set list for order of songs but here's what I remember (off the top of my head so don't grade me for accuracy )
They opened with STAR
then followed it up with an awesome version of REST IN PEACE
The third song was COMFORTABLY DUMB which they had to stop in the middle because the amp stopped working.
Other songs played included (but again I may have forgotten some)
Decadence Dance
Tell Me Something I Don't Know
Medley: (Kid Ego/Little Girls/Teacher's Pet)
Play With Me
Midnight Express
More Than Words
Ghost
Cupid's Dead
Flight of the Wounded Bumble Bee
Take Us Alive
Get the Funk Out
It('s A Monster)
They didn't play more than one verse and chorus of Take Us Alive though, because Nuno's 2nd amp stopped working. VERY frusterating because I was so looking forward to that song.
Then they closed the show up with an encore of:
Hole Hearted
Mutha
What a great way to end the night - with Mutha! Blew me away. The guys really seemed to be having a good time and even with the technical difficulties they just rolled with it and seemed to not be too bothered by it which was cool. The venue wasn't completely packed (it was nearly empty for Kings X) but a lot of people did show up for the boys and it was a good reception.
My two friends and I had the best time we've had in forever and really the only thing we didn't enjoy was the price of the t-shirts. $30 is too much that's more than the tickets! |

This is my first post. I've been an Extreme fan since I first heard "Play With Me" in Bill and Ted.
Last night was also my first ever Extreme show and I had a blast. I am a huge King's X fan, and they rocked with all their might.
Extreme was great! The way I remember it was that they opened with Comfortably Dumb and Nuno's amp head blew about two verses in. They played through the chorus without him and then Gary stopped everything. Once they got the second amp head wired up they just started Decadence Dance.
Later in the show his second amp head blew. I don't think there is any explanation, it just blew. My buddy that was with me, who is a guitar player, said that it is very unusual to blow two amp heads in one night like that.
Nuno said that we must have some weird energy that was blowing his amps up. They all really did keep a great attitude through the whole thing. Nuno did let us know though that if the third one blew that would be the end of the show because he'd be out of amp heads.
I had an absolute ball and have an entirely new respect for the four of them. Their harmonies were amazing, Fig is an amazing drummer, Pat really rolls that low end, Gary is a great showman and his voice is so much more impressive live, and Nuno is...well....he's Nuno. What a treat to see one of my all time favorite guitarists live.
We waited out by the bus til about midnight and they guys didn't come out. There was only about 10 people waiting, so maybe that's why. I was hoping to get a picture with the guys, but oh well.
I actually loaded up my memory stick with pics and video's of King's X, so I really didn't get any photos of Extreme. Sorry.

| It must be said that Extreme put on an amazing show Friday in AZ. It was unfortunate that they had to stop twice for blown amps, and I think some people left because of it. But apart from that it was one of the best concerts I have witnessed, and I have witnessed my fair share. I am just glad that Extreme never takes themselves too seriously. There are plenty of diva bands out there that would let a hurdle like that ruin the whole show. But Gary and the boys were gracious and thanked the audience for being patient. There was a high level of energy throughout as Extreme played a few of their new songs but stuck mainly to the old stuff. Gary is as professional a showman as they come and he gave 100%. I can't say enough about how mind-blowingly talented Nuno Bettencourt is. It should be illegal to play that fast and precise. Pat was all smiles from start to finish and I could tell he was sincerely enjoying being back. Any doubts that Fig would fit in were quickly erased. If anyone reading this has a chance to see Extreme (either on this tour or a future one...and I sincerely hope there will be more) do yourself a favor and go. That is all.. |

Simply AWESOME show all around! I hadn't seen the boys since 1993, so I was hella psyched. I was right in front of Nuno all night, and watching his hands made me want to go home and practice... after crying, that is. Also, I'm the lucky mofo who got the remainder of Nuno's Heineken. Anyway, I snagged a few pics with my cell phone. Nothing spectacular, but you can find them at http://www.myspace.com/uncleseanelpaso
Peace!! |
