Hey Guys,
I'll be coming to this show in ATL and can't wait.
I am looking for some suggestions for something. My uncle is coming with me and is also a big Extreme fan. He would like to have Nuno sign his N4 that he owns and was wondering how he could go about doing it. Are there ways of purchasing backstage passes? Does anyone know if there is ever a meet and greet during concerts at Center Stage? I've never really been a superfan of any band bad enough to wait after concerts, but is this something that people usually do? I really had no suggestions for him so I thought I would start here and see what you guys suggest.
Thanks and see you guys at the show!

I don't know if the venues will let us bring guitars in so I am bringing a white marker and the plate off the back. That way if we play the guitar we won't wear or sweat off the signature on the wood. _________________ Can't stop a broken heart from bleeding

| Yeah, that sounds like a good idea, I hadn't even thought about what you would do with the guitar during the concert! But where and when does anyone have a chance to try and see/meet the band (usually)? Do people usually wait after the concerts to try and get autographs? |

(WARNING: I'm being long-winded ... again)
When you've waited, what, more than 18 years to see your favorite band, it's hard to not have expectations that are through the roof. Well, Extreme surpassed anything I could have imagined last night here in Atlanta. They were out-friggin'-standing.
Here is the setlist, best as I can remember it (I didn't write it down):
Comfortably Dumb
Decadence Dance
Rest in Peace
Tell Me Something I Don't Know
Star
HIP TODAY
1st record medley
Play w/me
Midnight Express
More Than Words
Ghost
Cupid's Dead
Take Us Alive
Flight of the Wounded Bumblebee
Get the Funk Out
ENCORE:
Am I Ever Gonna Change
Hole Hearted
Mutha
I'm pretty sure I'm leaving something out prior to the First Record Medley, but I can't for the life of me think of what it is. (They did not play King of the Ladies last night, as they apparently did in N.C. the night before.)
These guys ROCKED last night. This was my third time seeing King's X and I knew what they sounded like live and the quality show they put on. They're tight and awesome. Having never seen Extreme live in person, I didn't know if they could match them, especially in sound. No worries at all on that front -- I mean, no worries. From the opening notes of Comfortably Dumb, they were bringing it. The energy and passion they played and sang with was front and center all evening. They were having so much fun, too ... it was just great.
I know some people have kind of poo-poo'd Tell Me Something, but that was one of the highlights of the night for me. That song took on a whole new life -- moreso than other live versions I've heard of it. I mean it was smoking. Nuno was feeling it, Gary was spot on, Pat and Kevin were pounding ... it blew me away.
Gary was top notch all night long, just wonderful. His vocals were great. Nuno ... I remember thinking to myself while he was playing the Play With Me solo 'It's just insane to be that good.' Pat doesn't just hold his own in this band; he adds many crucial elements to it. And Kevin was just a monster. What a great addition, and I got a chance to tell him so afterwards.
There were so many highlights ... Hip Today was strong as was Rest in Peace. All of the new stuff was great, including Ghost. I really like it.
I drug my brother to the concert with me -- he's not much of a hard-rock guy -- and he really enjoyed the show. We hung around for a little more than an hour afterwards and got to meet all of the guys. I'll try to post some pics after I get back home. The ones I took of the concert sucked hind tit (southern phrase), but the ones he got of me and guys after the show are good. (BTW, if someone who was there has any good photos of the live show they are willing to share, I would greatly appreciate it ... don't need a whole bunch, just a few).
All four of the guys were as nice, gracious and appreciative as they could be after the show -- and I tried to show my appreciation for what they do. It was so freakin' cool to finally see these guys live, and to get a chance to say hello, tell them the concert was awesome and that their music has just been so enjoyable all these years ... wow, that was so cool. And they genuinely appreciated it. Pat made sure he got my name right when I introduced myself, and when I forgot to get him to sign my CD and I approached him again about it a couple of minutes later and apologized for bothering him again, he said 'Hey, no problem, Tyler. Thank you.' All four of the guys were just class acts.
Pat and Gary both told me they will be back in 2009. I hope to be there again. I hope all of you get to see this show and I hope the guys continue to have success and happiness in what they do now and going forward. _________________ Who's your (Sow)Daddy? |
