Anybody have any info on this yet? Checked Ticketmaster, but of course nothing is up there yet. In fact, I don't even recognise the venue name.
edit:
Found it
Directions:
Middle Abbey Street is the first left off of O'Connell Street when heading from O'Connell Bridge. The venue is on the left hand side, half way down the street.
Link to there website http://www.theacademydublin.com/info/index.php
I've already booked tickets for 6 of us to see them in Birmingham. I didn't think they'd consider doing an Irish leg of the tour. So I guess this means I get to see them twice now |

Congrats for having the chance of seeing them twice !!
I´m a little disappointed they´re not playing Barcelona, but the Bilbao and Dublin dates, being on saturday, are quite good to me !!
So perhaps your info of the Academy in Dublin may be useful for me !!
Many thanks !!! _________________ you´ll be gone tomorrow ! |

Maybe there will be more European dates soon. Barcelona is a must in all European tours. _________________ "Não ficas com medo que eu estou cá já"- Nuno citing Eugénio "Zita" Silva

Jesus! December 1992 to November 2008. Sixteen years on, with the SFX (the last place they played here) now bulldozed, Extreme return.
The Academy was formerly Spirit, and prior to that it was HQ. It's a small venue, so it's a killer venue to see them in.
As of 9:45pm on Monday 25th August, there's still nothing about it on the promoter MCD's site, and it wasn't announced on the homepage of Ticketmaster either. Apparently, it went on sale last Friday.
I just discovered it when I did a band search on Ticketmaster this afternoon, something which I have been doing on and off for the last few weeks, but it was just wishful thinking: I didn't think they'd actually add Dublin. Respect. |

The show is now mentioned as a brief news item on the Hot Press website:
Re-formed Boston rockers Extreme are to bring their Take US Alive tour to Dublin for a headliner at The Academy.
The Grammy award-winning band call on Saturday November 8. Tickets cost €33.60, going onsale this Friday August 29. New album Saudades De Rock, their first in thirteen years, was released this month. |

Don't think there will be many there this time who weren't at the SFX. I managed to catch one of Pats plectrums at the gig. Well when I say I, I really mean me and about 4 other who helped push the heaving masses away so I could pick it up
Anywho, there'll be 5 of us going to the gig in Novemer now that I've booked the tickets, and the first line of this post not withstanding, I'm the only one out of the 5 who has seen a live extreme gig.
Turned the rest of the guys onto the band over the years, so now they can well and truly call themselves extremists.
Really looking forward to this one aswell as the gig in Birmingham 2 weeks later......
See you all there |

Ha! I got one of his plectrum's too - it's red with the original Extreme logo on one side, and his name printed on the other. |

Hello everybody!
So you guys from Dublin and around say that a Dublin show is a must see? I was at the show in Milan yesterday and it was awesone, but I'd like to see a show with Extreme as the lead band... so if I got that right - the Academy is actually a small place, even ideal for live shows? |

I was at the Milan show too, and consequently will be at the Irish one. Figured we were the only two irish blokes there.
Be interesting to see em headline here alright. was too young to see em the last time.
never been to the academy but i would imagine its capacity is less than 1000.
its also near two good rock/metal bars - Fibbers on Parnell Street and Bruxelles on Harry Street |

well, I also thought that there - in Italy - will be a lot of people from Slovenia, because it's quite near, and as they said the only show in Europe in 2008...in the "neighbourhood" - but no, just us two girls.
I think the show in Dublin will be great, so I hope to get the ticket, I booked a flight. So see you guys up there. |

I am also flying to dublin to see the Concert. I´m living in Austria and also do not know where to get the tickets in dublin. Does anyone know this?
The question if cameras are allowed would also be great if anyone knows?
(but i think that in general cameras and camcorders are forbidden, isn´t it?)
Cheers

The Academy in Dublin is a brilliant intimate venue...can't believe that Extreme are playing there...often used by large bands for secret warm up gigs...so atmosphere should be brilliant. The roof is gonna go off!
Cameras allowed and bar is open...
Better still just found out I won tickets on a local Dublin radio station and am going to meet and greet the band...things don't get much better...
See you all there!! |

Great news Borgy, thanks!
Do you know if it´s also allowed to take pictures with a DSLR Camera?
Or only small one´s which you can "hide" in your pocket? ;-)
The photos I found from The Academy look really great and promising!
I´m glad that I chose Dublin for my Extreme-Trip! |
